The Holmes County Training Center facilities are some of the most attractive and well maintained in the MR/DD system. Flower gardens, trees and a paved nature trail surround the grounds and buildings. The facilities consist of the following building located on a single campus:
Holmes County Training Center:
This 27,000 square foot building was completed in 1974. It currently houses the board administrative offices, school age program and the adult habilitation center. The interior of the school was updated in the mid 1990s, and the habilitation center, which originally housed the sheltered workshop was renovated in 2001 to more appropriately serve adults with medically fragile, multi-handicapping conditions and behavioral issues. The building includes offices, classrooms, adult care rooms, therapy areas, kitchen and cafeteria, gym and a loading dock.
Transportation Center:
This building was completed in 1997 and takes the place of an older garage that was too small and is now used for storage. The transportation center is 7,000 square feet and has 4 maintenance bays, one wash bay, along with office space for the Transportation Coordinator, a meeting room, restroom and storage space
Lynn Hope Industries
This building was completed in 2000 with funds donated by the Holmes County Association of Handicapped Citizens and the Lynn Hope Board of Trustees. It is a 24,000 square foot steel building with a woodshop, production floor, warehouse, offices, restroom, conference room, kitchen and cafeteria.
Early Childhood Center:
This building was completed in 2000 and is attached to the Holmes County Training Center. Consisting of 15,000 square feet, the ECC provides classrooms, offices, a general-purpose area and storage for the early intervention and preschool programs. In addition, a dental clinic serves children and adults with disabilities through a contract with a local dentist.
Other Facilities:
There are also playground facilities, along with a softball field, nature trail and two picnic pavilions located on the grounds that are available for the public to use.
