Adult Care Services
Some adults who attend the Training Center have severe disabilities. For them, learning to work may not be the most important priority. The Adult Care Program provides exercise, stimulation, recreation, and activities that are specifically designed for this group.
Seniors Program
When adults with disabilities reach retirement age, they are able to participate in the Seniors Program. This program is housed at the Holmes County Senior Center. With this arrangement, seniors, who are MR/DD are able to participate in a wide range of activities, designed for seniors, in a community environment.
Supported Living and Housing
The Holmes County Board of MR/DD has long recognized the needs of people with disabilities to be able to live in the place of their choice. For this purpose the Supported Living Program was created/ This program ensures that people are able to live in a setting of their choice and provides the necessary staff and other resources for a safe and enjoyable life in the community.
Because of the shortage of available housing suitable to the needs of people with disabilities, the Ohio Department of MR/DD has made bond money available to each county to purchase and manage those properties. This will ensure that people never have to leave the county just because they are disabled and can find nowhere to live.
